A Big Thanks To All Our Troops Over The Years

This is a very special weekend for a lot of us. It's a chance to say thanks to all the men and women in uniform, who have watched out for us over the years. Sometime this weekend stop, look around and notice how lucky we are to live in such a great country, the United States of America.

Mystic Arrowing 15 Loop

John and I spent Monday and Tuesday arrowing the clubs Mystic Metric ride. We had to put up with rain, fog and wet roads most of the time. We did manage to get it done though.

Brandeis Graduate

Check out Tiffany's custom cap.

This was so much nicer being in a smaller room.

Four years of hard work equal this.

A proud mom with her daughter.

Two video screens were needed at the main ceremony, so we could all see.

Tiffany graduated Sunday and we all are sooo proud of her. This was the first time I have been to a college graduation where they broke up the graduates into smaller groups during the day to receive their diplomas. Then they had one mass ceremony later in the day. I loved it that way, it was nice to be in a smaller room to see Tiffany get her diploma.

One More Award For Tiffany

This morning we attended the annual Charlie's Breakfast at Brandeis. This is held for the senior atheletes and is sponsored by "The Friends Of Brandeis Athletics". Tiffany was chosen for the "James McCully Award", an award that fits her perfectly and is well deserved. Just when we thought she was all done racking up awards, she pulls another one out. Well done Tiffany.

Complete Streets In NYC

Complete Streets: It’s About More Than Bike Lanesby Clarence Eckerson, Jr. on May 9, 2011

8,474 Plays Over the last four years, New York City has seen a transportation renaissance on its streets, striking a better balance by providing more space for walking, biking, and transit.
As with any departure from the status quo, it can take a while for everyone to grow accustomed to the changes. So Streetfilms decided to look at three of NYC’s most recent re-designs — Columbus Avenue, First and Second Avenues, and Prospect Park West — and show how pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers benefit from safer, calmer streets. We talked to transportation engineers with decades of experience, elected leaders, community board members, people on the street, and business owners to get their take on the new configurations.
The truth is, no matter how hard some media outlets try to spin it otherwise, these new street safety projects have broad community support. And while the story of these changes often gets simplified in the press, the fact is that the benefits of the redesigns go far beyond cycling. A street with a protected bike lane also has less speeding, shorter pedestrian crossings, less lane-shifting and more predictable movements for drivers, and the opportunity to add more trees and plantings. Injuries to pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and car passengers drop wherever the new designs go in. And on the East Side, these improvements have been paired with dedicated bus-only lanes with camera enforcement, making service more convenient and attractive for thousands of bus riders.
At 11 minutes, this is one of our longest Streetfilms. We cover a lot of ground here, and we hope it’s illuminating no matter what side of the issue you fall on. Click on this link to view the video.  http://www.streetfilms.org/complete-streets-its-about-more-than-just-bike-lanes/

Sunday Ride

Talk about embarrassing, this kid passed me on a slight hill.

I decided to head over to Seekonk and check out a new development being built. It's nice when it doesn't dead end and you can ride through it.I was hoping to get a mid 20 miler in but no dice, I had to settle for 17.
